So when I got up this morning I was disappointed to find that it hadn't snowed much over night. Lucky for me I stayed home though, by 4pm this afternoon we had 10+ inches on the ground! I spent about 45 minutes outside shoveling the driveway. I didn't do it all, but enough that I think I can get both cars in and out, and made room if the neighbors need to park at the end of the driveway.
Here's a small rant. Why does St. Louis have to FLIP out at the prediction of snow? The forecasters are calling for 4-6 inches, 6 inches folks, that's nothing! There is no reason to flip out that it MIGHT snow! I'm sure everyone will clog the highways tonight trying to get home early before the snow, I'll wait it out. As long as I can get home and run at the YMCA, and then watch LOST, I'll be set. Anyone watch the Season 3 finale last night of LOST? Amazing, I'm totally stoked about LOST again, I was starting to fade because I hadn't watched it in 9 months!
We're sitting at the airport, we should have taken off an hour and a half ago. Our original flight is now scheduled for 6:07. We moved up to a flight scheduled for 4:50, but by the time we walked the 2 miles to the other gate it switched to 5:30. Actually, it switched from 4:50 to 5:30 in the 10 seconds it took me to sit down, take off my jacket and turn around to look at the screen again. It's pretty amazing watching the snowplows here at the airport race down the runway, talk about a lot of snow going everywhere. Natalie has some pictures but they won't get uploaded till we get home as my silly laptop won't read the 4gb card I gave her this week. Hopefully we'll fly back home tonight, though we may not get our bags until tomorrow due to the flight change. Our new flight is a DC-9 rather than a Canadair regional, so hopefully that will help us get out of here. Update: Now the flight is scheduled to depart at...
I spent the last two days taking it easy on my abused body. Yesterday we went into town and did some walking around Main Street. I then spent most of the evening working on the Engage: Publish and Wiki modules for DotNetNuke. Today I stayed home all day and worked on some much needed modifications to the Wiki module, I had hoped to get it ready for another beta today but I wasn't able to get everything done that I needed. We were supposed to get a few big storms in the past two days. The storm for Wednesday didn't amount to much, though the one this evening was quite a storm. We'll see how much snow it actually deposited on the mountain as we head off to Park City Mountain Resort again tomorrow. Hopefully it will have dropped at least a few inches over there, perhaps they will even update their blog mentioning the results! More pictures and such tomorrow, perhaps even video if I can get the damn GoProVideo camera...
So today I chose to rest my aching bones by sleeping in while the wife took off with her father. After the bro/sis in laws showed up we headed off to the slopes. They were fortunate enough to get a free lift ticket for today as they flew in today and filled out a form online before they came. Talk about a deal, they got to ski today for $30 (for rentals), while I spent $90 just for a half day pass and my rental. I felt much better today, though it took me a little while to get there. I got a new board and boots today, the whole setup felt weird, I couldn't get my right foot to work right so I took a seat and adjusted the bindings myself. Not really knowing what I was doing I had hoped that turning my right toe more towards the front (I ride regular not goofy) would help. Sure enough it did. Once adjusted the board felt just like yesterday. From there I was more comfortable and running around the slopes. I definitely took some harder falls today than I did yesterday but that can be attributed to the fact that I was pushing harder today than I was yesterday. I'm not sure what the plan is for tomorrow yet, we're getting some much needed snow now. If it lets up we might give it a go again tomorrow, otherwise we might wait until Thursday and spend tomorrow doing some other activities around town. No photos from today, I tried hooking up my new camera from GoProCamera.com today but I wasn't able to get the thing working. If I don't have any luck later this week I might have to return the thing. Hopefully it will work though and I will be able to get some cool action footage (read: me falling a lot) Till the next...
Well we made it to Park City this afternoon. No issues, weather out of St. Louis was good, we got to the airport in plenty of time. Our flight was on time, though the 8:45 Minneapolis flight I believe left after we did, ours was scheduled for 10am. I'm pretty sure I've never been that far north in the US except for on the east coast, so the flight out of MSP to Salt Lake City was nice, though I'm not sure where exactly we flew over. I slept most of both flights, had to make up for the 3.5 hours of sleep last night! Philip and Sandra picked us up at the airport and brought us up into Park City. The condo is beautiful, so is the town itself. We ran over to Park City Resort and picked up our gear for tomorrow. Looks like I'll be the only one snowboarding! Hopefully I'll be typing a blog post tomorrow night, still with all my bones intact. Checkout some of the St. Louis snow photos over on...
Well the snow is coming down tonight. Pictures tomorrow if it turns into anything. I've got some new snow gear to test out before our trip to Park City, so if there is any real accumulation I think I may have to go outside and build a snowman! That or I'll organize a Solo2.org snowball fight......
