Got confidence? 30/December/2009 Chris Hammond Got confidence in your all wheel drive vehicle in the snow/ice? Well forget it, it’s better to drive without it (confidence)! The quattro got a little sideways today, all the way into and through a light pole. You know how they say most accidents happen close to your house? I was only two blocks from home. Apologies to my neighbor who was with me! And to the neighborhood for taking out a street light, fortunately for me it was only a street light and not the trees, or electrical box nearby. I’ve slid in a vehicle before, but never like this, totally hopeless and unable to do anything. Alright, maybe once like that, and you might remember how that turned out (see photo) Here’s the carnage of today’s little mishap. And of course the light pole. Lesson learned, another expensive one likely, but learned nonetheless. Read More...
First autocross run now in video! 25/November/2009 Chris Hammond So I took the A6 out for its first autocross this past weekend at the RMSolo Winter Series Event #2 held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. It was a good time, I must say I didn’t expect to place as well in class as I did (2nd), but i honestly was disappointed that I didn’t win! Here’s the first run uploaded to YouTube, likely will have more posted later and will update this post with those videos. Flash Not Installed Read More...
Projectquattro’s first autocross in the morning 22/November/2009 Chris Hammond I’m up getting ready for the quattro’s first autocross tomorrow morning. This will likely be the first time I have ever autocrossed in November, and I’ve been autocrossing for almost 10 years now. Here’s to hoping the A6 makes it there and back in one piece! Hoping to have some conecam video of the action as well, we’ll see. Read More...
Electrical Gremlins in the Audi A6 19/October/2009 Chris Hammond So this weekend was the first weekend with the car, lots of effort put into it, 250 miles driven today, and lots of Gremlins found! So let's start in order. Friday afternoon Natalie and I headed down to the DMV to get the title and registration taken care of on the Audi, we also hoped to take care of our licenses as well. First thing we figure out when we walk in the door is that you can't do your license and registration in the same place. What? Colorado, hello, what's the deal? (we learned why later). (read the full blog post for A LOT MORE about this weekend) Read More...
